Dona Recipe

Attempting to re-create Taco Deli’s famous Dona recipe, I ended up with this monster. Also pretty damn tasty.

  • 16 jalapeno peppers
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • salt & pepper
  • Chicken stock/soup base
  • Entire Garlic clove

Directions:

  • Bring pot of heavily salted chicken base.
    • Cut tops off jalapenos
    • Boil Jalapenos  for about 20 minutes – until the skin turns a light green or transparent layer becomes loose
    • Remove from boiling water and strain. (do not discard seeds inside)
  • Saute entire garlic in 1/3 cup oil until brown
  • Combine in blender
    • Boiled jalapenos (less water = better)
    • Garlic +Oil
    • Salt/Pepper to taste
