Smoked Turkey – Rocketship Smoker

Ingredients

  • 22lb turkey
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1 can coke
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 apple
  • 1 clove garlic

Smoking Directions:

  • Combine Salt & Oil – rub on outside of bird (skin is inedible)
  • Chop onions, apple, garlic, and combine in cavity with can of coke (or pour coke in, once in smoker)
  • For 22lbs, put the bird on at 1:00AM
    • Waking up every (two hours) to stoke the fire – @ 30-40 minutes/pound
  • Pulled out at 11:30AM, and bird was only 125F
  • Oven at 350F for 2 hours brought bird to 160F
